This spring, about twenty Downtowners enjoyed a walking tour of backyard gardens east of Queen Street. Our attention now turns to west side featuring Downtowners who live west of Queen Street. Our garden tour will start at Steeple View lofts and include stops on Charlotte, Concord, Walnut and Pine Streets ending with ice cream at Splits and Giggles.

Parking is available at Community Mennonite Church, just a few blocks from our first stop. The round-trip walk starting and ending at the parking lot is about 1 ½ miles. You may request transportation in the conversation window of this calendar post if walking is a challenge.

We will likely split into two groups, one starting at 4 and the second at 4:30. Notice for these arrangements will be sent a few days prior to the walk.

Walk itinerary (Start to finish, Steeple View Lofts to Splits and Giggles, is about ¾ miles):

  • 118 N. Water: Steeple View Lofts, Nancy Youst and George Woodard
  • 136 N. Charlotte: Gary and Susan Leinberger
  • 213 N. Concord: Gene and Tanis Garber Shaw
  • 239 N. Concord: Mimi Shapiro and Paul Engleheart
  • 530 W. Walnut: Pete and Kara Barber (Walk by)
  • 321 N. Pine: Maria and Mike Hayes
  • 500 W. Lemon: Splits and Giggles
