Founded in 1947, the Rodale Institute is the brainchild of J. I Rodale, a businessman with a keen interest in organic farming. It is a prestigious agricultural and research nonprofit. It is dedicated to advancing long term studies of vegetable and grain crops and community education. Visitors can view a wide variety of areas to include demonstration gardens, greenhouses, barns, and labs. Tours and Self-guided tours are available.
After lunch at the Hometown Bar and Grill where you will order from the menu, we head to Kutztown University and the PA German Cultural Heritage Center. The Headquarters is open to the public, giving access to the exhibits in the galleries and the Library and Archives. In addition to the Center, tours of the outdoor exhibits of schoolhouse, house, and barn may be available.
