Root’s Country Market happens on Tuesdays from 9am until 9pm. In addition to local farmers, meat and poultry purveyors, cheese and bread, the 175+ vendors sell everything from woven goods, prepared foods, & handcrafted items. You can find antiques, collectibles, estate jewelry and more - indoors and outdoors. The auction starts at 1pm, where you'll have the opportunity to observe bidding on live animals, equipment, fresh produce, flowers, and shrubs.
A few of my favorites, aside from the local produce stands, are Kreider’s Tomatoes, which sells tomatoes in season, 1st and 2nds. I love the half-sour pickles from Peter Pepper’s PA Pickles, and the fresh raw and roasted nuts from Piersol’s Nuts.
The prices are hard to beat. It’s a unique Lancaster County experience that’s fun for foodies! A typical length of a visit is 1 hour to 1 ½ hours. For more information, visit rootsmarket.com.
Meet at the Community Mennonite Church parking lot at 328 West Orange Street at 9am to carpool (rain or shine). Please indicate in the comments whether you can supply a ride or will need a ride.
