The Naomi Feil Validation Method is an approach in interaction with people with dementia that recognizes their value, and need to be treated with empathy, in utmost respect. This method validates the alternate world, and feelings which the person experiences, and helps us enter that world for meaningful interaction.

Downtowner Joyce Weaver, who has received training and has had extensive, joyful experiences in applying this method, invites other Downtowners to join her in a conversation about the Feil Validation Method. She will share basic techniques that can be helpful for less frustration when we interact with a person in cognitive decline. We may choose to help ourselves, as possibly needed in the future, by sharing this information with our friends, family, and potential caregivers.
