Register for this leisurely trip to see the newly refurbished FRICK MUSEUM (timed tickets only) and the fabulously beautiful Neue Galerie, whose focus on German/Austrian art holds  timeless masterpieces that focus on a golden era in the arts in Europe.

The Neue Galerie, 86th & Fifth Avenue, is in what was once the Miller Mansion and houses the collection of Ronald Lauder. It is dedicated to German and Austian art forms from the early 20th century.  Now on display is GERMAN MASTERWORKS – highlights of the extensive collection of German art from approx. 1890-1940, and MODERN VIENNESE GRAPHICS – a presentation of about 75 works ranging from the founding of the Vienna Secession in 1897 to the end of WWI.  A feature not to miss the is the famous “Woman in Gold, “the subject of the 2015 movie “Woman in Gold” with Helen Mirren.  Timed tickets are the only admission.

The Café Sabarsky, located inside, is THE place for Viennese pastries and coffee!!

The Frick’s major renovation and re-opening this Spring has brought droves of art enthusiasts to stand in line for hours, hoping to be admitted to Henry Clay Frick’s  historic home at 1 E. 70th St and its unique atmosphere and collection ranging from the Renaissance to the 19th century.  Some of the Frick’s holdings include works by Rembrandt, Vermeer (see left), Hals, Whistler, and scores of others. An additional feature of this renovation is the newly renovated reading room of the Frick Art Research Library, free & no appointment  necessary.  The Frick also houses a new café, the Westmoreland, (named for his private Pullman railway car) with a varied menu.

PERTINENT INFORMATION: Tour cost $125.00 includes price for the bus, two admission tickets, driver tip, and morning coffee/water and afternoon water and snacks.  Admission tickets are based on senior prices, including the fees for on-line purchases by me.
