Background

Lancaster Downtowners incorporated and formed a board of directors in 2007. In December of 2010 Downtowners was granted 501(c)(3) status, making them a non-profit organization.

Just One Call, an initiative described in more detail under Member Services on this website became a reality in September of 2010* JOC provides member services such as transportation to the doctor or light maintenance tasks to members from a bank of member volunteers.

By virtue of its membership with Village to Village Network, Lancaster Dowtowners relates to a broad network of similar organizations all across the U.S. These organizations, known as “villages” are all modeled to some degree after Beacon Hill Village in Boston which pioneered many of values shared among the fifty plus members of Village to Village
