Bassem Eid is a Palestinian human rights activist. He grew up in the UNRWA refugee camp of Shuafat, rising to prominence in the first Palestinian uprising. He was a senior field researcher for B’Tselem and founded the Jerusalem-based Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring Group. Eid calls himself “a proud Palestinian who grew up in a refugee camp and raised a large family.”
