Nicholas Montemarano, Professor of English, Franklin & Marshall College
Nicholas Montemarano, Professor of English at Franklin & Marshall College will read from his novels and discuss the process of transforming the actual—public figures and events—into what Tim O’Brien calls “story-truth.” Montemarano will share the triggers for his novels—a racially-motivated murder in Brooklyn, a political scandal, a barbaric act of terrorism—and explain why fiction, more than any other genre, allows him to imagine the private side of public events, turning “headlines” into more intimate stories. 11:30 at Mayser Gym for Common Hour, 12:30 at Gypsy Kitchen for lunch. Join fellow Downtowners for one or both.
