Organizational Initiative-September 27, 2004
The evening agenda included introductions and a discussion on the topic "Toward a Shared Vision." The group made of list of common values, noted what's missing in downtown Lancaster, reviewed the cultural and economic diversity of downtown and suggested next steps.

Downtown—WalkNovember 13, 2004
Two months later, a smaller group met for a downtown walk through several neighborhoods to see the city homes of various Downtowners, an international food store and a local eatery for lunch.

Community and Housing Options—March 10, 2005
The second formal meeting took place March 10, 2005. Eugene Aleci, June Lang, Caleb Heidebrecht, David High and Daryl Yoder Bontrager participated in a panel discussion that addressed different models: intentional neighbors,intentional community, co-housing and warehouse condos.

Development Ideas for Downtown Lancaster

Joe Wagman and Eric Menzer, Wagman Construction Group
After Downtowners reviewed some ideas from the Beacon Hill Village model in Boston, representatives from Wagman Construction suggested three options for housing in Lancaster: 

  • Warehouses into condos
  • Refurbishing of traditional row houses
  • New construction of green designhouses that could fit into "skins" compatible with character of various downtown neighborhoods
